Maintenance Policy of Jairams Arts and Science College

The purpose of this Maintenance Policy is to establish a framework to ensure the regular upkeep, safety, functionality, and aesthetics of the Jairams Arts and Science College's physical infrastructure, laboratories, equipment, and other resources, supporting a conducive environment for education and research.

Ensure all facilities and equipment are functional, safe, and up to standard.

Promote preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns.

Scope of Maintenance Policy

This policy applies to all physical assets of the college including:

  • Academic buildings and classrooms
  • Laboratories and equipment (Science, Computer, etc.)
  • Libraries
  • Administrative offices
  • Sports facilities and grounds
  • Cafeteria and common areas
  • IT infrastructure
  • Electrical and plumbing systems
  • Furniture and fixtures

General Maintenance

Daily cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, and other common areas. Maintaining the campus greenery. Promptly addressing any necessary repairs, including carpentry and painting.

Preventive Maintenance

Routine inspections and servicing of equipment and infrastructure to avoid breakdowns (e.g., lab equipment calibration, AC servicing, electrical checks).

Corrective Maintenance

Repairs or replacements after a fault or failure (e.g., plumbing repairs, furniture repairs).

Emergency Maintenance

Urgent attention to sudden breakdowns posing safety hazards (e.g., power failures, fire equipment malfunction).

Responsibilities

Principal/Management

Overall supervision and budget allocation for maintenance activities.

Maintenance Committee

Coordination and monitoring of maintenance tasks.

Department Heads

Reporting of issues in departmental infrastructure and ensuring lab equipment upkeep.

Students and Staff

Responsible usage of facilities and timely reporting of faults or damages.
